What is Sinus Infection?
Sinusitis is also known as sinus infection, an inflammation or swelling of the tissue lining the sinuses. Sinuses are air spaces inside your nose and head. Normally healthy sinuses are filled with air. However, colds and allergies can cause swelling inside the sinuses, resulting in infections and inflammation.
Symptoms of sinusitis include headache, fever, bad breath, thick mucus, nasal blockage or congestion, pressure around your eyes, cheeks, nose or forehead that worsens when bending over, and fatigue.
Sinusitis is most often caused by viruses. However, some are caused by bacteria. A viral sinus infection usually starts to improve after 5 to 7 days. A bacterial sinus infection often persist for 7 day or longer, and may actually worsen after 7 days. Before turning to an antibiotic for a bacterial sinus infection, try MSM to help clear up infection and prevent further complications.
Keep in mind that antibiotics won’t help a viral infection, and taking an antibiotic unnecessarily can actually do more harm than good. You not only risk possible side effects, but also increase your chances of developing antibiotic resistance, which can make future infections harder to fight off.
Sinus infections can last for many weeks and also become a recurrent problem. In many cases, chronic sinus infection are allergic in nature. Some foods, dust, molds, pollen, and chemicals can actually inflame the sinus tissue.
How Does MSM Help With Sinus Infection?
MSM is an effective natural remedy for relief of pain and discomfort of sinusitis. It has the ability to bring relief within a week, sometimes even faster.
MSM can help clean out the sinus of both allergens and viruses. It helps cells in the body to work better and keeps the system clean by binding to mucous membrane and blocking histamine receptors, thus reducing or eliminating both allergies and sinus infections.
Histamine is a chemical found in some of the body's cells and it’s responsible for a variety of uncomfortable symptoms, such as a runny nose or sneezing.
MSM also has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, which helps to reduce inflammation and pain associated with sinus infection so you can start feeling better.
How To Make MSM Nasal Spray?
You can take MSM orally on a daily basis and also administer it directly into your nose. Doing both can effectively relief discomfort and help to speed up recovery.
