How to Make Sulfur Cream and Lotion for Beautiful Skin? There are many lotions and creams on the market that promise for more beautiful and youthful looking skin. But they can be very expensive, sometime they don’t even work, and often times they are filled with synthetic chemicals and preservatives that can be harmful and toxic to your skin.

Your skin is your biggest organ and whatever you put on your skin will get absorbed directly into your body. That is why I love making my own skin care products. How does organic sulfur benefit the skin?

Organic Sulfur MSM recipes for youthful skin - How to Make Sulfur Cream and Lotion for Beautiful Skin?Organic sulfur (MSM) not only offers amazing health benefits when taken internally, but also offers many skin benefits when applied topically.

Organic sulfur is also known as the nature’s beauty mineral. It helps to increase collagen level, reduces the signs of premature aging by fighting the damaging free radicals, and keeps your skin completion looking healthy, clear and youthful.

Sulfur has a softening and deeply penetrating ability that makes it a wonderful ingredient for skin creams and lotions.

Its anti-inflammatory, repairing and healing properties make it very beneficial for individuals suffering from inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis and dermatitis.

Its ability to enhance the permeability of cell membranes helps to resolve scars by removing toxins from the skin and creating healthy new skin cells.

When skin cells become more permeable, this means the skin becomes more absorbent or penetrable, so other ingredients used along with organic sulfur can penetrate deeply into the skin to provide a better, softer, smoother, and hydrating skin.

Research has shown that organic sulfur can help improve skin tone, reduce redness, ease sensitivity, reduce discolorations, and treat other symptoms associated with rosacea. (Source)

Organic sulfur can also benefit people with skin disorders including dandruff, scabies, burns, diaper rash, age spots, and certain fungal infections (Source).

Now you know how organic sulfur benefits the skin, next I will share with you 4 MSM recipes for youthful skin. I will provide you step by step instructions for each recipe, so you know exactly how to make each one.

How to make sulfur cream and lotion?

Recipe #1: Organic Sulfur (MSM) with Skin Cream/Lotion of your choice

Things you need:

  • Gold organic sulfur crystals (Where to get it)
  • Distilled water (You can get it from local grocery stores)
  • Water soluble organic face cream (Where to get it)
  • Airless pump bottle (Where to get it) or pump dispenser (Where to get it)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or electric hand mixer
  • Zip lock bag
  • Scissors
  • Spatula

Here is how to make it:

  1. Dissolve 15 ml (3 teaspoons) of gold standard organic sulfur in 2 tablespoons of hot distilled water.
  2. Add dissolved sulfur into a 100 ml of your favorite water-soluble organic face cream or lotion in a mixing bowl.
  3. Use a whisk or electric hand mixer to blend the ingredients. Add essential oils for fragrance as desired. I personally love the peppermint and sweet orange scent. Once the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, then it is time to transfer the mixture to a bottle.
  4. Use a spatula to transfer mixture to a zip lock bag. Cut off a corner of the bag and squeeze the lotion into an airless pump bottle or pump dispenser.

Note:

  • I recommend thicker face cream or lotion, because you will be adding the dissolved sulfur solution to the face cream/lotion, which will result in a thinner consistency. If the cream or lotion is already too thin to begin with, your final product might end up too runny.
  • Make sure you don’t add more than 15 grams (3 teaspoons) of organic sulfur for every 100 ml of cream. Too much organic sulfur will not dissolve, will re-crystallize and become gritty to use.
  • Not all organic sulfur products are created equal. I personally use and would only recommend gold standard organic sulfur. Read my review here.
  • Distilled water is preferred. Avoid tap water as it contains all sort of nasty microorganisms and other impurities which will decrease the shelf life of your homemade products.
  • In regards to storing your homemade products, I personally prefer airless pump bottle over regular pump dispenser. In the “How to Preserve and Protect Your Natural Homemade Skin Care Products” article heading #7, I talked about several advantages of airless pump bottle. Click here to read more.

Recipe #2: Organic Sulfur (MSM) with Homemade Skin Cream

Things you need:

Here is how to make it:

  1. Place the stainless steel bowl over a pot of boiling water over medium heat. And then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  2. Place 2 teaspoon of organic coconut oil and 2 teaspoon of emulsifying wax in the stainless steel bowl. Stir constantly until all ingredients are melted.
  3. Keep the mixture heated on the stove. Add 12 teaspoons (4 tablespoons) of distilled water to the melt coconut oil and emulsifying wax. The mixture will quickly emulsify into milk-like liquid.
  4. Add 2 teaspoons of gold standard organic sulfur crystals to the mixture (Organic sulfur properties are NOT affected by heat). Keep stirring the mixture for one to two minutes to make sure everything is completely melted.
  5. Once the sulfur crystals are completely melted. Next, remove the stainless steel bowl from the pot and turn off the stove.
  6. To cool the cream:
    1. Put the cream in the refrigerator for few minutes.
    2. Fill a large bowl with cold water and place the stainless steel bowl over the water. The mixture will slowly turn into thin cream.
  7. Don’t worry about the cream being thin at the moment. It takes time for the ingredients to emulsify. In the next few hours, the consistency of the cream will start to thicken. Much like lotion consistency.
  8. Once the mixture is cooled down. Add your favorite essential oil for fragrance. Use a whisk or electric hand mixture to blend the ingredients. Once the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, then it’s time to transfer the mixture to a bottle.
  9. Use a spatula to transfer mixture to a zip lock bag. Cut off a corner of the bag and squeeze the lotion into a airless pump bottle or pump dispenser.
  10. Now you just made your own organic sulfur (MSM) face cream.
