In Blog, Recipes by Hong4 Comments

In my last post, I talked about “how does MSM help with hair growth.” If you haven’t had a chance to check out that post, I highly encourage you checking it out so you can fully understand the benefits of MSM for hair growth.

MSM can be used internally and externally. The focus of this post is using MSM externally.

I will share with you some helpful homemade MSM hair recipes to help you promote healthy hair growth and decrease hair shedding.

So without further ado, let’s get started.

What is MSM?

Before I share with you my favorite MSM hair recipes, I think it’s important to understand what MSM is.

MSM is also known as Methylsulfonylmethane. It’s an organic form of sulfur found in plants, animals, and humans. It’s also naturally occurring in foods such as milk, broccoli, cabbage, onion, garlic, seafood, and eggs.

MSM is an essential mineral needed by our body to function properly. There are many benefits of MSM. It’s used by the body to build healthy nails and hair. It’s also used for allergies, joint problems, pains and much more. The reason so many benefits are attributed to MSM is because it provides the body biologically active sulfur.

Many people don’t realize that MSM is the key to the creation and maintenance of Keratin in the body. Keratin is the type of protein that makes up your hair, nail, and skin. Keratin is a fibrous protein that provides the building blocks and structure for your hair.

When your body doesn’t have enough MSM, it will have a very difficult time creating keratin. So if you have thin, rough, and brittle hair, this can be directly due to lack of Organic Sulfur (MSM) in your body.

MSM can be used internally as well as externally. When used externally, it helps to lessen hair loss, promote hair growth, and repair dry and damaged hair.

  1. Hi Hong, thanks for explaining the benefits of MSM. I have heard of Methylsulfonylmethane before, however, I didn’t realize MSM is an organic form of sulphur, found in animals, plants and us humans. Also, I was ignorant towards the health benefits MSM minerals deliver to the body to cure allergies, joint & muscle pains as well as creating keratin, the protein essential for hair growth, this post’s subject.
I appreciate your home-made MSM hair shampoo recipes and MSM hair growth recipes, very useful for sufferers of thin, rough & brittle hair.
    All the best,

  2. I am so glad I found this! I have suffered from sudden hair loss from a prescription I was taking. It is a very slow process growing it back, as I went from mid back length to having to cut it all off because of all the loss. I am definitely going to make the shampoo and conditioner. I am looking forward to some results. Was wondering if you have also used this?

Hello Matts Mom, thanks for commenting. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. I’ve been taking MSM internally in the form of organic sulfur crystals since 2016. I take it mainly for allergies. I noticed some change in my hair but not too significant.

I heard many great things about these MSM hair recipes and decided to give them a try. So I’ve just recently started using MSM externally for about a couple of weeks now using these recipes. I’ve noticed that my hair is shinier and softer. I know many people including my relatives have experienced faster hair growth using these recipes, but they have been using it for several months now. I believe with the continued long-term use, I will also see improvement in my hair growth. I highly recommend you give these MSM hair recipes a try. Let me know how it goes.

      Good luck to you!
      Hong
