MSM or Methylsulfonylmethane is also known as organic sulfur. It’s a sulfur-containing compound that’s found naturally in animals, plants, foods, and humans. It’s an important mineral needed for your body to function properly. It’s also a popular dietary supplement used to treat a wide array of symptoms and health conditions.
There are many benefits of organic sulfur. It helps to improve immune function, allergies, arthritis, chronic back pain, skin problems, and many other ailments. Here is an article you can check out to learn more about the benefits of organic sulfur.
Although sulfur is found in nature, unfortunately, the amount available is too small for extraction for commercial production of sulfur. So all commercially available sulfur products are actually made in a lab. The sulfur that’s created in the lab has the molecule that is identical to the one that’s found in nature.
Don’t be fooled when someone tells you that their sulfur is plant-based or naturally occurring. That’s a false claim because all sulfur products are synthetically produced. These words are just advertising hypes used to promote sales. Make sure to check out this post to learn the truth and myth about sulfur.
With that being said, commercially available organic sulfur or MSM products are available in the forms of crystals, capsules, tablets, liquid, and powder.
Liquid MSM or MSM drops is simply pure organic sulfur crystals dissolved in water. You can get them online or health food stores or you can make your own. Here is an article where I shared the top 3 best MSM eye drops available to choose from. If you want to make your own, here is a detailed article that shows you step by step instructions on how to do it.
3 Ways To Use MSM Drops
1. Mix it with your favorite beverage!
Depending on the liquid MSM drops brand you use, the dosage varies. Simply add the amount recommended by the manufacturer in your favorite beverage once or twice daily.Reasons to love liquid MSM drops:
- If you have a difficult time getting used to the bitter taste of organic sulfur crystals
- If you have a busy schedule and don’t have the time to mix your organic sulfur crystals
- If you don’t like taking the pill or the crystal form of the organic sulfur(MSM)
I personally use the crystal form of organic sulfur. However, sometimes I get lazy or I get busy, and I end up consuming the MSM drops.
Another reason to love MSM drops is that they are better absorbed in your body than pills. The reason for that is because pills have to be broken down in the digestive system to be absorbed, which can change the full effects of the sulfur.
Whereas the liquid MSM drops can pass through the stomach into the large intestine and enter your bloodstream within minutes, therefore you get the full effect of the sulfur.
You also get more sulfur from the MSM drops than the pills because things such as flow agent or fillers are commonly used to make pills can reduce sulfur effectiveness.
In the long run, you save more with the MSM drops since you get more sulfur than the pills. Don’t give me wrong, I’m not saying you should stay away from pills completely. Pills are great if you have a busy schedule or you are traveling. Although you lose a little bit on the quality, you gain the convenience and the ease of use.
2. Make hair recipes with it!
If you have a dry hair, liquid MSM may be the solution. Simply pour some MSM drops into an empty spray bottle and spray it on your hair. I normally spray it on my freshly washed damp hair. It leaves my hair feeling soft and looking shiny.

3. Make a spray with it!
Organic sulfur or MSM is also great for your skin. It’s actually called “Nature’s beauty mineral.” It has the ability to boost collagen level which is an essential nutrient for the health and maintenance of skin.
Sulfur can be applied to your face to make your skin feeling smooth, soft and looking beautiful. It also helps with acne prone skin, eczema, age spots, fades away acne scars and brightens your skin complexion.
To use on your face:
- Wash and dry your face
- Spray the mist onto your face
- Let it air dry
You will notice a subtle glow on your face. I use the spray on my face several times a day. I love the benefits I get from the spray. I used to have severe acne, I tried all kinds of cream and medicine, and nothing seemed to have helped.
I believe with the combination of taking organic sulfur internally as well as applying it on my face have cleared up my acne and acne scars. Although I still break out occasionally but definitely not as severe as how it was in the past.
